چکیده

Fully parallel stochastic neural network implementations can be realized nowdays. However, in these implementations most of the silicon area is consumed in the stochastic pulse sequence generation circuits. In order to improve their efficiency in terms of consumed silicon area, new techniques must be developped. This is specially important in applications where a large number of synaptic weights are needed. In this paper we present a new approach that can significantly increase the efficiency osf the

Role of STDP in regulation of neural timing networks in human: a simulation study

Many physiological events require an accurate timing signal, usually generated by neural networks called central pattern generators (CPGs). On the other hand, properties of neurons and neural networks (e.g. time constants of neurons and weights of network connections) alter with time, resulting in gradual changes in timing of such networks. Recently, a synaptic weight adjustment mechanism has b...

Using Genetic Algorithms with Grammar Encoding to generate Neural Networks - Neural Networks, 1995. Proceedings., IEEE International Conference on

Kitano’s approach to neural network design is extended in the sense that not just the neural network structure, but also the values of the weights are coded in the chromosome. Experimental results are presented demonstrating the capability of the technique in the solution of a standard test problem.

Stability Criteria of Discrete-Time Analog Neural Networks - Decision and Control, 1995., Proceedings of the 34th IEEE Conference on

I n this short paper, some globally asymptotical stability criteria for the equilibrium states of a class of discrete-time dynamic neural networks with continuous states and asymmetrical weight matrices are presented. The resulting stability criteria are represented by either the existence of the positive daagonal solutions of the Lyapunov equations or some inequalities. Finally, some examples ...

Enhanced MLP performance and fault tolerance resulting from synaptic weight noise during training

We analyze the effects of analog noise on the synaptic arithmetic during multilayer perceptron training, by expanding the cost function to include noise-mediated terms. Predictions are made in the light of these calculations that suggest that fault tolerance, training quality and training trajectory should be improved by such noise-injection. Extensive simulation experiments on two distinct cla...
